GPSI Diabetes takes care of all types of diabetes

Did you know that there are more than 50 types of diabetes? Most people (including your provider) think there are only two types - type 1 and type 2.

Over the past 10-20 years we have come to realise that the disease of diabetes is much more complex and that about 20% of those labeled as having type 2 diabetes do not actually have type 2 diabetes; and about 5% of those labeled as having type 1 diabetes do not have type 1 diabetes.

At GPSI Diabetes we go back to the basics, review your family history, your personal medical history and do lab tests to ensure that you have a a correct diagnosis. We then take the time to ensure that you have a complete understanding not only of what type of diabetes you have but also what unique pathology is underllying your type of diabetes. Once you have a full understanding of what is driving your diabetes then you can make well informed choices about what you would like to do to take care of your diabetes.

GPSI Diabetes is well versed in all management options

These include lifestyle changes for diabetes management and/or weight loss, medical management (oral hypoglycaemics, insulins) for diabetes, insulin pumps, continuous monitoring systems, management of diabetes pre or post gastric bypass surgery.

GPSI Diabetes is both a public and private service

GPSI Diabetes is a private and public service with rooms in Auckland and Hawkes Bay. However, because of our successes and flexilble booking arrangements (see below), GPSI Diabetes sees people from all over New Zealand. Currently GPSI Diabetes sees people from as far south as Christchurch to as far north as Whangarei.

GPSI DIabetes offers as many payment options as there are people accessing the service. We believe that GPSI Diabetes should be accessible to anyone so we believe in working with each person to keep it affordable for anyone wishing access it. Depending on your insurance plan, GPSI Diabetes may be covered.

A number of GP Practices have chosen to contract with GPSI Diabetes so that their enrolled patients can be seen at no cost to the patient. Click HERE to see if you qualify for the public service
